How can we help?
Straight answers on uploads, scoring, rewrites, plans and refunds. Every article leads with the answer.
Getting started
What the product does and what it needs from you.
How does ResumeAdapter work?
ResumeAdapter compares one resume against one job description and tells you what is missing. You upload a resume, paste the job posting, and get an ATS score with a ranked list of keyword and skills gaps. On a paid plan you can then rewrite the resume line by line and export it as PDF or DOCX.
Which resume file formats are supported?
ResumeAdapter accepts PDF, DOCX, and images (PNG, JPG, WEBP) up to 5MB, one file at a time. DOCX parses most reliably. Scanned PDFs and photos are routed through OCR automatically. The older .doc format is not supported: open it in Word and save it as .docx first.
Troubleshooting
The three things that actually go wrong, and how to fix each.
Why will my resume not upload?
Most upload failures come from one of five causes: the file is over 5MB, it is an old .doc file, it is a PDF with no selectable text, the image is too low quality to read, or more than one file was dropped at once. Match the message you saw to the fix below.
What should I do when an analysis fails?
If an analysis stops with an error rather than a limit message, that is a server-side failure and not a problem with your file. Retry once. Your upload is already parsed at that point, so a retry does not mean re-uploading. If it fails again on the same resume, try a shorter job description.
What happens when I reach my free plan limit?
The free plan includes one resume analysis, one cover letter, and one summary per month. A limit message means the month's allowance is used, and it resets the following month. The $9 24-hour pass gives unlimited scans for a day. Executive removes the limits entirely.
How it works
Scoring, rewriting, and what happens to your data.
How is the ATS score calculated?
The ATS score measures one resume against one job description. It combines keyword coverage, skills alignment, and experience relevance drawn from that specific posting. Because it is relative to the job, the same resume scores differently against different postings. It is a match score, not a universal resume grade.
What happens to my resume after I upload it?
Your resume is parsed, analyzed, and then stored so that your analysis history and account features work. It is held in Google Cloud Firestore and retained until you delete the data or your account, subject to limited legal, security, and backup retention. Resume data is never sold.
What does the rewrite change, and what will it never invent?
The rewrite reworks the bullets you already have so they match the target job, and asks you to approve each line before it is kept. Every rewritten line is validated against your original resume. If the model produces a number or an achievement your resume does not support, it is reverted rather than shown to you.
Features
Cover letters, the builder, the tracker, career change.
How do I generate a cover letter?
The cover letter generator writes a letter from your resume and the job description you are targeting, so it references your actual experience rather than generic filler. The free plan includes one per month. The 24-hour pass includes one, and Executive has no limit.
How do I use the resume builder and export my resume?
The ATS Resume Builder lets you edit your resume section by section and export it as PDF or DOCX. It is scored by the same engine as the analyzer, so the score you see in the builder is the score you would get from an analysis. Save your work as you go: changes are not saved automatically.
What does the job tracker do?
The job tracker keeps your applications in one place with the job description attached to each one. Because the posting stays with the application, you can re-scan a role after editing your resume and see whether the score actually moved. It is included with Executive.
How does the career change analyzer work?
The career change analyzer compares your background against a role you have not held before. Instead of scoring you against requirements you cannot yet meet, it identifies which of your existing skills transfer, names the genuine gaps, and returns a transition roadmap. It is included with Executive.
Plans and billing
Limits, prices, cancellation, refunds.
What are the plans and what does each include?
There are three: a free tier with one analysis, one cover letter, and one summary per month; a $9 one-time 24-hour pass with unlimited scans for a day; and Executive, from $11.40 to $19.00 per month depending on billing period, with no limits. There is no paid trial that auto-converts.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Cancel any time from your account page. There is no phone call and no retention flow. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, so cancelling mid-month does not cut you off immediately. Changing billing period is done from the same page.
Can I get a refund?
There is a 30-day money-back guarantee. Refunds are assessed on the service provided, not on employment outcomes: we cannot refund on the basis that a job search did not produce interviews, because that depends on factors outside the product. The full refund policy and non-refundable cases are in the terms.
