Why will my resume not upload?
Most upload failures come from one of five causes: the file is over 5MB, it is an old .doc file, it is a PDF with no selectable text, the image is too low quality to read, or more than one file was dropped at once. Match the message you saw to the fix below.
You saw "That file is a bit too large"
The file is over the 5MB limit. Export a fresh copy from Word or Google Docs rather than compressing the existing one, since most oversized resumes are carrying an embedded image or an unsubsetted font.
If you exported from a design tool such as Canva or InDesign, export as PDF with image downsampling enabled, or rebuild the resume in DOCX.
You saw "We can't read that file"
The format is not one we accept. Upload a PDF, a DOCX, or a clear photo of the resume.
This message also appears for .doc files, the pre-2007 Word format. Open the file in Word or Google Docs and save a copy as .docx, then upload that.
You saw "One resume at a time"
Two or more files were dropped together. Drop a single file. If you want to compare two versions of your resume against the same posting, run them as two separate analyses.
The upload was accepted but no text was found
The file parsed as an image with no readable text layer. This is normal for a scanned resume or a PDF exported as a flat image, and it is why OCR exists in the pipeline.
If OCR still finds nothing, the source image is usually too low resolution, skewed, or shot in uneven light. Retake the photo straight on with the whole page in frame, or ask whoever sent you the file for the original DOCX.
