Sometimes. LinkedIn Easy Apply sends your application to the employer's applicant tracking system only when the employer has connected that system to LinkedIn. LinkedIn calls the connection Apply Connect, and it is available for Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS, Lever and other major systems. When a job is not connected, your Easy Apply application stays on LinkedIn, where the job poster reviews it. Either way, a person or a rule set up by the employer decides, and your screening answers matter as much as your resume.

In short: There are three routes. Easy Apply on a connected job goes into the employer's ATS. Easy Apply on a job posted only on LinkedIn stays on LinkedIn. An Apply button without "Easy" sends you to the company's site, usually its ATS. You cannot reliably tell the first two apart from the job page, so prepare every Easy Apply as if it will land in an ATS.

Applying on LinkedIn today? Check your resume against the job you're applying to before you click Easy Apply: paste the posting and see which of its required skills and keywords your resume never states.

The three routes an Easy Apply application can take

What happens after you click depends on how the employer set up the job, not on you.

What you see on LinkedInHow the employer set it upWhere your application goesWho reviews it first
Easy ApplyIts ATS is connected through Apply ConnectInto the employer's ATS (Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS and others)The employer's recruiters, inside the ATS, with any rules the employer set there
Easy ApplyJob posted on LinkedIn, applicants managed on LinkedInStays on LinkedInThe job poster, on LinkedIn, with LinkedIn's screening questions and settings
Apply (no "Easy")External application linkThe company's careers site, usually its ATSThe employer's recruiters, after you complete its own form

Each row comes from LinkedIn's own help pages:

  • Connected jobs. "Easy Apply hosts the job application experience on LinkedIn and sends application data to your ATS", and "Most ATSs allow customers to turn on or off Easy Apply on individual jobs" (LinkedIn Help: Apply Connect). To connect a job, the employer must give LinkedIn an apply link that includes the ATS job ID, so LinkedIn knows which requisition to send each application to (LinkedIn Help: preparing jobs for Easy Apply).
  • Jobs managed on LinkedIn. When you apply directly on LinkedIn, "your application is securely sent to the job poster" (LinkedIn Help: Apply to jobs directly on LinkedIn). An employer who chooses to receive applicants by email still has them stored on LinkedIn: "All applicant information is stored on LinkedIn when you choose to receive applicants via email" (LinkedIn Help: applicant options).
  • The Apply button. "If you see the Apply button instead of the Easy Apply button, you'll be routed to that company's website or job board to continue the application process" (LinkedIn Help: Apply for jobs on LinkedIn).

So the popular claim that Easy Apply "keeps your application inside LinkedIn" is half true. It is true for jobs managed on LinkedIn, and false for connected jobs, where LinkedIn only hosts the form.

Which applicant tracking systems connect to Easy Apply?

LinkedIn publishes a table of the systems that integrate with it. On October 13, 2026, it listed Apply Connect, the integration behind Easy Apply on connected jobs, as follows (LinkedIn Help: integration features supported by an ATS or CRM):

Apply Connect statusSystems listed
AvailableWorkday, Greenhouse, iCIMS, Lever, Oracle Recruiting Cloud, SmartRecruiters, Jobvite, Workable, JazzHR, UKG, Zoho Recruit, Dynamics ATS, Pinpoint, JobScore, JobDiva
Coming soonBullhorn, Teamtailor, JobAdder, Tellent Recruitee, Comeet
Not availableOracle Taleo Enterprise, ADP, Cornerstone, Avature, PageUp, Breezy, Saba

Two cautions before you read too much into it:

  1. Available is not the same as switched on. LinkedIn notes that Apply Connect "is currently being made available" and that most systems let the employer enable Easy Apply job by job. A Workday employer can still show an Apply button that sends you to its careers site.
  2. The list changes. LinkedIn updates the page, and it was last updated three weeks before we read it. Check the live page if a specific system matters to you.

If the employer uses a system marked "not available", such as Oracle Taleo Enterprise, an Easy Apply button on its job most likely means the job is managed on LinkedIn rather than in that system. That is an inference from LinkedIn's table, not something LinkedIn states job by job. Our guides to Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS and Taleo explain what each one does with a resume once it arrives.

What reaches the employer when you use Easy Apply

Whichever route it takes, an Easy Apply application carries more than your resume file.

  • Your resume and your answers. The resume you attach and your answers to the screening questions. On connected jobs, LinkedIn sends this "application data" to the ATS.
  • Skills from your profile. LinkedIn says "Relevant skills from your profile may be included with your application to help highlight your qualifications" (LinkedIn Help).
  • A profile summary inside the ATS. For employers that also pay for LinkedIn Recruiter, a widget in their ATS shows "a real-time summary of LinkedIn profile information for candidates who applied via Easy Apply" and "highlights how they match your job posting" (LinkedIn Help: Apply Connect).

What this means for you: the recruiter may read your LinkedIn profile and your resume side by side. If your profile lists "Marketing Associate" and your resume says "Lifecycle Marketing Manager" for the same job, that gap is visible. Make them agree, and make your resume carry the posting's terms, since it is the document the ATS parses. Our ATS keywords list shows how to pull those terms from a posting.

Can you tell which route your application took?

Not reliably. The job page shows Easy Apply in both of the first two cases. What you can see:

  • The button. Apply without "Easy" means the company's own site. That one is certain.
  • Notifications. For an Easy Apply job hosted on LinkedIn, LinkedIn tells you when the job poster views your application or downloads your resume (LinkedIn Help: what to expect after you apply). On connected jobs, the employer can turn on similar notifications from inside its ATS when it views, downloads or rejects your application (LinkedIn Help: Apply Connect). So a notification does not tell you which route you took either.
  • Emails from the employer's system. A confirmation or status email sent by the company's careers system, rather than by LinkedIn, suggests the application reached its ATS. Treat it as a hint, not proof.

The practical answer is to stop guessing: send a resume that an ATS can read and a recruiter can search, every time. Our ATS resume format guide has a two-minute test for whether a parser can read your file.

Who rejects an Easy Apply application, and when

The route decides who can reject you and how fast.

  • On LinkedIn. The employer can auto-reject applicants who fail a "Must-have" screening question, and LinkedIn sends that message "three calendar days after they apply for the job". By default, applicants outside the job's selected country are tagged "Not a fit", and on non-promoted jobs they are notified automatically unless the employer turns that off (LinkedIn Help: rejection messages).
  • In the employer's ATS. On a connected job, the employer's own rules apply after LinkedIn hands the application over. Workday, Greenhouse and Taleo all document rules that decline an applicant on a screening answer automatically. See ATS knockout questions for the common ones.

So a LinkedIn rejection that arrives three days after you applied fits LinkedIn's schedule. One that arrives within minutes more likely came from the employer's ATS or a person. Our guide to being rejected immediately after applying decodes the timing platform by platform.

Worked example: two Easy Apply jobs, two routes

Everything below is fictional: the employers, the candidate and the rules. It shows the mechanics, not a real ResumeAdapter result.

The candidate. Priya is a product designer with five years of Figma and two of user research, based in Austin and open to hybrid work.

Job A: a fintech company running Greenhouse with Apply Connect. Priya clicks Easy Apply, uploads her resume and answers the questions on LinkedIn. LinkedIn sends the application into Greenhouse. The employer has an auto-reject rule on "Will you now or in the future require visa sponsorship?", which Priya answers correctly with No, so the rule does not fire. Her resume now sits in Greenhouse, where a recruiter searches the pool for "design systems". Priya has built one, but her resume calls it "a shared component library", so the search misses her. The fix is wording, not experience: "Built and maintained the design system (120 Figma components) used by 4 product teams."

Job B: a 20-person startup that posts only on LinkedIn. Easy Apply again, but this time the application stays on LinkedIn. The founder set one must-have question: "Do you have 3+ years of user research experience?" Priya answers No, honestly, and the automatic rejection arrives three calendar days later, on LinkedIn's schedule. Nothing about her resume caused it, and nothing about her resume could have prevented it.

Same button, two systems, two different reasons. Only the first one was hers to fix.

Five checks before you click Easy Apply

  1. Look at the button. Easy Apply or Apply. If it says Apply, expect the company's own form and its screening questions.
  2. Read every screening question as it is asked. Location, sponsorship and years-of-experience questions decide most automatic rejections, on LinkedIn and in the ATS.
  3. Attach a resume tailored to this posting. It is the document the ATS parses and the recruiter searches. You cannot edit or withdraw it after you submit (LinkedIn Help).
  4. Make your profile agree with your resume. Titles, dates and the skills LinkedIn may attach to your application.
  5. Check the posting's terms against your resume. Check your resume against the job you're applying to to see which required skills and keywords the posting asks for that your resume does not state, then add only what you can support. ResumeAdapter cannot see the employer's setup or rules, and it cannot guarantee an interview.

LinkedIn also limits how many Easy Apply applications you can send per day, and pauses Easy Apply if you submit too many too fast (LinkedIn Help: Easy Apply limits). Fewer, matched applications fit those limits better than a hundred identical ones.

Before you click Easy Apply

Easy Apply changes where your application goes, not what it has to prove. Answer the screening questions as they are asked, and send a resume that states the posting's requirements in its own words.

Check your resume against the job you're applying to and see which requirements your resume leaves out before a recruiter does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions readers ask about this topic.

Does LinkedIn Easy Apply go to an ATS?

Sometimes. If the employer connected its applicant tracking system to LinkedIn through Apply Connect, Easy Apply hosts the form on LinkedIn and sends your application data to that ATS, where the employer's recruiters review it. If the employer posted the job directly on LinkedIn and manages applicants there, your application stays on LinkedIn. And if the job shows an Apply button instead of Easy Apply, LinkedIn sends you to the company's own site, which is usually its ATS.

Does Easy Apply go to Workday?

It can. LinkedIn's table of supported integrations, read on October 13, 2026, lists Apply Connect as available for Workday, as well as Greenhouse, iCIMS, Lever, Oracle Recruiting Cloud and SmartRecruiters, among others. Available does not mean switched on: each employer decides, and most systems let it turn Easy Apply on or off job by job. Oracle Taleo Enterprise, ADP and Cornerstone were listed without Apply Connect.

Is LinkedIn Recruiter an ATS?

LinkedIn describes Recruiter as a tool that integrates with an employer's applicant tracking system rather than replacing it. For employers without an ATS, LinkedIn's own job posting tools let the poster review applicants, rate them, mark them Not a fit and send rejections, so for those jobs LinkedIn plays the tracking role itself.

Does Easy Apply actually work?

It submits a real application to the job poster, and the same rules apply as on any other route: screening questions, the employer's review and, on connected jobs, the employer's ATS. LinkedIn does not publish response rates for Easy Apply, so claims that it never works are not based on its data. What matters more is what you send: a resume and screening answers that match that one posting.

Can I edit or withdraw an Easy Apply application?

No. LinkedIn's help says you cannot edit or withdraw an application once it is submitted through LinkedIn. To change something, contact the job poster through an InMail message. Check your resume and answers before you click Submit application.

Is there a limit on Easy Apply applications?

Yes. LinkedIn sets a daily Easy Apply limit that resets at the end of the day in UTC, and a speed limit that pauses Easy Apply when you submit many applications in a short time. LinkedIn may also lower the limit for accounts whose activity looks inauthentic. It does not publish the numbers.

Can ResumeAdapter tell me whether a job uses an ATS?

No. ResumeAdapter cannot see how an employer set up its job, which system it uses or what its screening rules are. It compares your resume with the job posting you paste and shows which required skills and keywords your resume does not state, so you can fix what is true before you apply. It cannot guarantee an interview.
